With Atlanta United struggling this year, I thought that I'd try to find some players to help out the current squad. All of these players are U22 and could be under the “U22 DP” roster slot if we opened one up in the summer.
Jacob Farrell \ 21yrs \ LB \ Central Coast
I love Jacob Farrell, this guy plays with 100% of his heart. He’s kinda undersized as a LB but that doesn't mean he won't beat the winger off the ball. He ranks in the 100th percentile in duels won and 100th in duels won percentage. While Wiley is an offensive fullback, Farrell is the opposite. He is very defensive, but he can get forward if he needs to.
In the clips I watched, Farrell often chipped the ball over defenders so the wingers could attack the ball. I think that’s something we could use on our wings. He’s also an insanely hard worker, running up and down the wings all game. Overall, I think Farrell would be a great signing for us if Wiley was to leave in the Summer.
Matej Sin \ 19yrs \ AM/CM \ Banik Ostrava
Matej is a very interesting prospect honestly. I think he could be a winger but he mostly plays in the middle for Banik Ostrava and Czech U21. Matej is super creative.. like Almada creative. The only problem is that he has problems executing the creativity (if that makes sense.) It seems like he tries to do too much sometimes. Like Almada, he has excellent
dribbling ability and first touch. The other problem is that he’s very one footed well… he was in the videos I watched. He can definitely develop that right foot into something serviceable though. I think Sin would definitely need some development before he became a definite starter in MLS but he could be great for us off the bench.
Johan Rojas \ 21yrs \ W \ La Equidad
I am a Johan Rojas fan, I love how he plays. He’s so fast and tricky, he’d cause so many problems for defenders. He also creates an insane amount of chances on the wing.. which is something we need badly. He led the Colombian first division in: chances created,
accurate crosses (!!!) and assists. He was 2nd in the big chances created category. In the videos I saw, he literally did a fake shot every chance he had the opportunity which is kinda funny. Anyways, I think he’d be an upgrade on Xande Silva and Edwin Mosquera.
