Atlanta United Preview
Atlanta is coming off of a horrible 4-0 away loss at Red Bull Arena, now facing one of the strongest teams in MLS. The Five Stripes are heading into this one still without Miles Robinson as a result of international duty, and Derrick Etienne and Ajani Fortune are the same. Santiago Sosa and Erik Lopez are both questionable. In a rough patch for Atlanta— we’ve won once in the last 7 games—, they face the Union, who’ve won 5 of their last 7, and are coming off of a 4-1 walloping of Inter Miami.

Philadelphia Union Preview
Recent Transfers
The Union’s winter window did a good bit to add reinforcements to their squad. Namely, they added midfielder Andres Perea from Orlando, which was really good depth in an already good midfield. They also signed attacker Joaquin Torres from Montreal, and added a high-level backup center back in Damian Lowe from Miami. On top of that, they added young defensive midfielder Richard Odada from Red Star Belgrade. Ultimately, they kept their quality starting group and added some very high level depth.
Availability
Crucial left back Kai Wagner is listed as out with a hamstring injury.
Players to Watch
Andre Blake
Arguably the best keeper in the league over the last few years, getting the ball past him will be a task no matter who the Union is playing.
Jakob Glesnes
The Defender of the Year in the 2022 MLS season, like Blake, he’s going to be hard to get around. He also lives in Atlanta fans' nightmares, so that’s fun.
Jose Martinez
Arguably the best defensive midfielder in MLS. He’s another defensive presence to be wary about, possibly the best ball winner in MLS.
Alejandro Bedoya
Even at his age, he’s one of the best midfielders in the league. Statistically one of the best midfielders in MLS in carrying the ball, keep an eye on him in Philly’s progression.
Daniel Gazdag
One of the best and most underrated players in MLS. Could’ve easily won MVP last season, and he has 7g/5a already in 2023.
Mikel Uhre
One half of the most dangerous striker pairing in MLS, he was a massive part of a lot of the dominant victories the Union had in 2022 that nearly carried them to a supporter’s shield.
Julian Carranza
The other half of the aforementioned striker pairing, the Argentine is already in the double digits for goals this season, and is scoring or assisting regularly for Philly.

Score Prediction:
4-0, Philadelphia Union
Atlanta was really poor defending a terrible Red Bull team, and Philly’s front line has a combined 33 g/a already. I don’t see that attacking group for Atlanta doing much either, giving that it pretty much is run through Almada and Giakoumakis and Philly have possibly the best ball winning midfielder in the league and a top 5 center back pairing.
