Atlanta United Preview:

Atlanta went to Toronto and came out with a point without Almada. The Five Stripes conceded late, but Machop Chol found the back of the net and they looked better producing without Almada. Heading back to Atlanta, Ozzie Alonso and Brad Guzan remain out, and DPs Giorgos Giakoumakis and Thiago Almada are questionable, along with important midfielder Franco Ibarra.

Predicted XI:

Chicago Fire Preview

Recent Transfers

In the winter, Chicago added veteran MLS legend Kei Kamara, Greek wonderkid No. 9 Giorgos Koutsas, American goalkeeper Jeff Hal from Sweden, and brought starting goalkeeper Chris Brady back from loan from Forward Madison.

Availability

Backup striker Victor Bezerra is listed as out, and DPs Xherdan Shaqiri and Jairo Torres are both questionable, along with important midfielder Federico Navarro.

Players to Watch

Carlos Teran

The 22 year old Colombian center back's defensive numbers look very good this year, along with his creation going forward. His passing isn't great, but he could be tough to get past, especially without Giakouamkis.

Arnaud Souquet

The Frenchman's defensive numbers are looking good, and he already has two assists. The veteran fullback could be a tough nut to crack and be a danger going forward.

Gaston Gimenez

The only DP the Fire kept since 2021, Gimenez' numbers have been very good this year. He could absolutely own the midfield, especially if Ibarra and Almada don't play.

Brian Gutierrez

The homegrown that Chicago kept from international duty, he has been productive going forward, especially for his age.

Chris Mueller

He produced extremely well in his return to MLS last year, and has been doing so again in 2023. A very dangerous player going forward, he's capable of creating a lot.

Kei Kamara

The veteran striker is still very capable. 3 goals in under 350 minutes after a productive year at Montreal, he's Chicago's leading scorer. If he plays, he'll do well.

Giorgos Koutsas

The Greek wonderkid is yet to score in limited appearances for Chicago, and he may open his MLS account against Atlanta. Keep an eye on him.

Predicted XI:

Score Prediction:

2-0 Atlanta

Atlanta did better to produce without Almada north of the border last week, and, especially with Almada and Giakoumakis likely to get minutes late, I think Atlanta finds the back of the net twice and keeps a clean sheet.
