With the recent news that Atlanta United are trying to find a DP that can be bought down, I thought that I should make a shortlist. These players I will be listing can play both wings, something that ATLUTD are looking for in a winger. Here we go!
The first player on the list is Carlos Junior (27). The Brazilian winger has been phenomenal for Al-Shabab these past few seasons. He scored 13 goals and assisted 2 last season, and had 29 goals and 4 assists the season before this one. It's safe to say that he’d be a great addition to the winger corps. He appeared on the right wing 14 times and appeared on the left wing 7 times. In 2021/22, He played up top for 12 games and played the rest of the games (24) on the right. The only downside to this signing is that he probably can’t be bought down due to the high salary. He made 3.5m p/y with Al-Shabab (sportspayouts.com) last year which is a lot but I genuinely believe he’d be worth it.
Alright moving on, the next player is Kiril Despodov (26). Kiril is a right/left winger who had 41 g/a in 48 games last season for Ludogorets… yea he’s a beast. He had 28 g/a in 41 games in 21/22 but he was still dominating the Bulgarian first division. He’s extremely good at set pieces, long shots and can dribble well. He can also use both feet pretty well. Unfortunately, since he plays in the Bulgarian division I can’t find any more stats about him. If Kiril joined I think he’d take over MLS… that's how good this guy is.
The next winger is Vito van Crooij (27) who just came off of his best season in Eredivisie. Vito had 26 g/a in 41 games with Sparta. He played primarily as a RW but also played as a LW in 15 games. Vito is pretty fast, can put in a very good cross and for some reason is really good in the air lol. Vito can play a very good long ball too so I think he’d pair very well with Giakoumakis. Vito’s current salary is 134,860k so he might be a max TAM winger if we ended up signing him.
The last player is Zizo. Zizo (27) is a player who plays in Egypt… I know just hear me out. Zizo has been the best player in Egypt for the past 2 years, racking up 40 g/a last year and 39 g/a the year before. His salary, like Carlos Junior's, is extremely high. He’d probably have to be a DP and stay a DP. Zizo is extremely skillful… almost like Luiz Araujo. His first touch is out of this world too. Zizo had Ligue 1 clubs interested in him after the Africa Cup of Nations when he had some very good performances with the Egyptian NT and his release clause is 2.2m USD.
